More than two weeks ago I arrived in Kenya, so what have I done since then?
The first week we spent in the classroom. Doug, one of the founders of Balloon Kenya, taught the curriculum to prepare us for the task ahead: supporting Kenyan entrepreneurs with their existing or start-up businesses to create a sustainable source of income for them to build their lives upon.
One thing I learned during this time you can read in my post ‘Ready – Fire – Aim.’
In the second week we were already challenged to use what we learned, this time it was on us to teach. After Doug, Ed (our team leader) and Kevin (our area leader) observed our work behaviour and determined skills, strengths and weaknesses they split us up into groups of three and two. I was put in a group with Noel, who is from Hungary and studies Economics in London.

Die erste Woche verbrachten wir im Klassenraum. Doug, einer der Gründer von Balloon Kenya, lehrte uns den Lehrplan um uns auf die bevorstehende Aufgabe vorzubereiten: Kenianische Entrepreneurs bei existierenden Geschäften oder neuen Geschäftsideen zu unterstützen um eine beständige Einkommensquelle zu schaffen, auf die sie ihr Leben bauen können.
Mein Artikel ‘Ready – Fire – Aim.’ erzählt von einer der Dinge die ich während dieser gelernt habe.
In der zweiten Woche ging es dann auch schon darum das gelernte anzuwenden, diesmal lag es an uns zu lehren. Nachdem Doug, Ed (unser Team Leiter) und Kevin (unser Orts-Leiter) unser Arbeitsverhalten beobachtet und unsere Fähigkeiten, Stärken und Schwächen erfasst haben, teilten sie uns in dreier und zweier Gruppen ein. Ich wurde mit Noel eingeteilt. Noel ist aus Ungarn und studiert Economics in London.
